Co-enzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is naturally produced by the human body. It is required for the basic cellular function. CoQ10 levels are said to decrease as ageing progresses. Levels are said to be low in people with some health conditions. These include heart conditions, muscular disorders, and a lowered immune system. Some prescription drugs may also lower CoQ10 levels.
CoQ10 is possibly most known for its powerful antioxidant activity as well as the control it exercises on the flow of oxygen within the cells. It also assists with cardiovascular functioning, the production of energy, the absorption of other nutrients and it possesses immune-stimulating properties. In studies performed with mice, it was found to increase life span by around 50%.
