Understanding Royal Jelly and Fertility

Fresh Royal Jelly is historically regarded as a popular and effective fertility enhancer for both men and women. As a naturally rich source of amino acids, vitamins A, C, D, E and Bcomplex vitamins, Fresh Royal Jelly possesses numerous health benefits

Royal Jelly is a substance that is known to possibly help with Fertility issues, at least if you are a bee, a rabbit or a sheep. It is a produced from the glands of worker honeybees, which is located in the head of the bee.

Despite there being claims that some of the health benefits of Royal Jelly for humans include improved pregnancy rates and egg quality, there is yet to be any thorough testing on how effective royal jelly is in humans.  It is therefore difficult to conclude effectiveness from animal studies as they will not always prove conclusive for humans. It is wise to consult with a doctor if you plan on taking Royal Jelly, especially if you have a known allergy to bees or asthma

Fertility Expert
A lot of women who come to see me for help getting pregnant are fearful they are going to have to adopt a rigid, strict diet in order to boost their fertility. I always tell them it's more about avoiding a select few foods, and adding in a selection of wonderful super foods, rather than changing what they eat completely or sticking to a macrobiotic, organic diet. Royal Jelly is one of those super foods, as it is rich in proteins and amino acids that help stabilise the hormonal imbalances that can wreak havoc on a woman's fertility. It is high among the list of supplements and products I advise my clients to add to their daily diet if low estrogen levels are inhibiting their fertility. Since it comes from bees, Royal Jelly is all natural but I always advise my clients to source it from a reputable brand such as BioBees, as their commitment to organic and sustainable practices makes it a trustworthy brand.

Ginseng and guarana are very good for raising energy levels. In order to have a great sex life, it is important to stay up and be energetic. The BioBee's Fresh Royal Kelly elixirs will give you the energy to keep going while the aphrodisiac extract will give you the motivation to start. Up to 40% of infertility is caused by males since they don't have enough sperm or they have sperm that can't swim straight. Bee pollen is very good for fertility then, because it increases the quality, quantity and motility of sperm. It can also help with egg quality because it's so nourishing.

What is Fresh Royal Jelly?

Royal Jelly is a substances derived from bees, which also includes bee pollen and propolis. It is the crown jewel among beehive products, known as gelee royale and a 'super food'; it is an emulsion of proteins, sugars and lipids in a water base and is synthesized by the bee from digested pollen and honey nectar, which is then secreted from a gland in the nurser bee's head. These are rich in the essential amino acids (those amino acids which cannot be synthesized), and so plays an important role in bee nutrition.

Royal Jelly is a powerful milky substance produced by young worker bees in the hive for 2-3 days, these bees are fed only on pure Royal Jelly until they reach maturation and produce enough Royal Jelly to feed the female larva, which develops into Queen Bee.

Royal Jelly is the only difference between a queen bee and an ordinary worker bee. Queen bees live their entire life with Royal Jelly as their only source of nutrition while worker bees are feed Royal Jelly for only the first three days of their life. This diet is responsible for making the queen bee 40 to 60 percent larger than a worker bee plus they live 40% longer than worker bee.

The Queen Bee is the most important figure of the bee community; she receives a life span of 5-6 years and produces around 2000 eggs a day producing more worker bees and sustains the life cycle of the hive when fed on pure Royal Jelly. Researchers soon realized the remarkable health benefits of Royal Jelly by the way the Queen Bee lives long and healthy. This is one of the reasons why many people around the world take Royal Jelly supplements; as little as 250mg Royal Jelly may provide energy, youth and vitality, therefore the nutrients found in Royal Jelly are necessary and very beneficial for the human body.

Royal Jelly is perhaps the most complex, highly concentrated and nutritious food produced by animal, insect or plant. It contains Vitamins A, C, 0, E and all the essential B-complex vitamins such as B 1, B2, B3, including a high concentration of vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) and vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), which is reputed to support the strength of the adrenal glands and may help to reduce stress and is the only natural source of acetylcholine, an essential ingredient for the correct transmission of nerve impulses. It contains proteins, which are rich in natural hormones such as pheromones. It contains six minerals, (sodium, potassium, iron, chromium, manganese and nickel) and all of the amino acids essential for life plus 10 more.

How does it works?

Royal Jelly is perhaps the most extraordinary complex ingredient, highly concentrated and nutritious food produced by animal, insect or plant. Produced miraculously by worker bee's Royal Jelly naturally contains a wide spectrum of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and proteins rich in natural hormones, making it an all round supplement that helps to support various health matters and is an ideal product for people of all ages. All BioBee's products are all made from Fresh Royal Jelly, which is extracted directly from the beehive, and it is the crown jewel of beehive products. Below are some of the many benefits of taking Royal Jelly and how it can support the body system:

Royal Jelly has yeast-inhibiting functions, which may help conditions such as thrush and athlete's foot. Yeast infections result from an overgrowth of a species of fungus called Candida Albicans. Royal Jelly contains these yeast inhibiting properties, which may help to balance the friendly bacteria and hindering the overgrowth of the unfriendly bacteria, which causes Candida.

Royal Jelly may play an important role in maintaining cholesterol levels due to the high concentration of specific nutrients naturally found in royal jelly. These nutrients include vitamins 83, 85, 86, C & vitamin E, providing support for HDL cholesterol. There are two types of cholesterol, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is the 'bad' cholesterol, which sticks to the blood cell vessel walls and accumulates causing blockages especially of the arteries. The High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is known as the 'good cholesterol', this helps take away the LDL cholesterol from the blood, and help clear the arteries. Royal jelly naturally provides the nutrients, which may help to lower cholesterol levels, amounts as low as 50-1OOmg may have the lowering effect.

Royal Jelly has been found to be of great help in boosting the immune system. Royal Jelly naturally contains immune building nutrients such as vitamin C and E, which increases white blood cells count, which further strengthens the immune system. Royal Jelly also contains the amino and gamma globulin, which helps your immune system fight off infections.

Royal Jelly is high in amino acids, which are necessary for human and animal life. It contains at least 17 amino acids, including the 8 essential amino acids, plus 5 unidentified related compounds. Aspartic Acid is a major amino acid, necessary for tissue growth. It also contains sterols, phosphorous compounds and acetylcholine, which is needed to transmit nerve messages from cell to cell. To little of this compound makes people prone to various nerve disorders including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and Multiple Sclerosis. Royal Jelly is rich in the important Nucleic Acids RNA and DNA, which produce many benefits throughout the body. Royal Jelly contains an anti aging element that keeps your skin looking smooth and youthful.

How can it boost fertility?

A number of nutrients required for conception are found in Fresh Royal Jelly. Folic acid is one of these nutrients, and it is a hugely important nutrient that is vital in helping to protect against Spina Bifida (neural tube defects). Similarly, a lack of the amino acid Arginine in men can result in a low sperm count. Fortunately Fresh Royal Jelly contains this amino acid, which can enhance the production of testosterone and can mimic the female hormone, oestrogen, thereby increasing fertility potential

Fertility expert Dr. Randine Lewis recommends Fresh Royal Jelly for increased fertility, quoting a number of research studies supporting his advice. He draws upon the research conducted by Bogdan Tekavcic, a gynecologist, who found that women who were given bee pollen with royal jelly demonstrated improvement or disappearance of their menstrual problems compared to a placebo group who reported no difference. Menstrual problems obviously hinder the chance of conception, and this study demonstrates how Fresh Royal Jelly can help heal and regulate the female sex organs.

Male fertility Studies

Another study on male rabbits was able to show the benefits of Royal Jelly. An Egyptian study was conducted where a total of 24 rabbits were given doses of 200,400 or 800 mg of royal jelly per kilogram of body weight once a week. The results were published in the August 2010 issue of “Animal Reproductive Science”.

The rabbits, which normally become infertile in summer months because of raised temperatures proved to show encouraging results. Testosterone levels in the rabbits rose to 133,143 and 124 percent of the initial levels while sperm motility also improved, notably by 15, 18, and 5 percent. Sperm output also went up by 65,63 and 35 percent while ejaculation volumes increased by 36,31 and 18 percent.

Female Fertility Studies

Human studies on the benefits of royal jelly on women’s fertility are still yet to happen. However, animal studies have shown some real potential for fertility improvement.

A sheep study published in the June 2006 issue of "Animal Reproductive Science" conducted by researchers from the Jordan University of Science and Technology tested the effects of royal jelly compared to equine human chorionic gonadotropin or placebo.

Pregnancy rates and lambing rates for the sheep were higher in the groups when given Royal Jelly and eCG than in the Placebo groups, concluding that Royal Jelly may have estrogenic effects.

On humans there is yet to be any conclusive studies. However on Animal studies the results have been promising for Royal Jelly. From a study published in June 2006 by the Jordan University of Science and Technology, animal testing on a sheep showed higher rates of pregnancy and lambing when researchers gave the sheep Royal Jelly instead of human Chorionic Gonatropin.

Risks

If you have a known allergy to bees do not take this product, as Royal Jelly is produced by bees. It is therefore possible that the jelly can cause an allergic reaction in you.

If you suffer from Asthma, you may also be at risk of an increased chance of developing symptoms while taking the product.

Many patients who have allergies also have a positive skin test reaction to Royal Jelly according to a warning from Drugs.com. Other signs of an allergic reaction to Royal Jelly include facial swelling, eye and mouth swelling, itching in the throat, or difficulty in breathing, tingling in the lips , a rapid heartbeat, severe headaches.

Some of the more severe reactions can include abdominal cramping, diarrhoea and/or nausea.

What is the Purpose of Royal Jelly In Bees?

It is known that the Royal Jelly is fed to Bee larvae at an early stage and any Bees that continue to show “Queen-bee potential” continue to receive the royal jelly for an extended period.  The royal jelly itself contains the following substances according to the Columbia University Health Advice Website:

  • 12 – 15% Protein
  • 60-70% Water
  • 10-16 % Sugars
  • 3-6% Fats

The benefits to Queen Bees being fed Royal Jelly are quite remarkable, with Queen bees reaching growth to about twice the size of the standard worker bee, life expectancy is higher as well, with Queen bee’s believed to live forty times as long, not to mention making the Queen more fertile, giving them the ability to lay roughly 2000 eggs a day.

Whether or not these benefits have any effect on human beings is not yet proven, although the product is still advertised as a fertility and longevity enhancer.
